Of course, they are also prominent guests in the story missions of the original campaign, and some of the missions are specifically about getting on their necks. As a result, these three archetypes – assassin, sniper, psi-warrior – can join in normal missions on a random basis, to spit in the soup and to teleport themselves out of the mud to safety after a defeat. The Chosen that donated the title are basically XCOMs versions of the Nemesis system, three particularly strong aliens with their own agenda in the service of Advent, each of which watches over their own region. War of the Chosen now shines above all because it gives the soldiers and some enemies more character and gives you more room to ponder on the strategy level. With Enemy Within for the first XCOM it worked really well. With War of the Chosen Firaxis is once again treading the civilization path and adding to the existing campaign new game systems and events, character classes and many, many other contents that turn upside down how one experiences the immensely replayable campaign in the future. Not exactly cheap, but extensive overhaul with clever new functions and wonderfully nasty enemies.
